He learned the Assembly before he ever ran for it
Sabur Akanbi Oluwa was born on 13 January 1987, into a family already fluent in Lagos politics — his father, Prince Rabiu Adio Oluwa, leads the APC's Lagos West senatorial family. But Sabur's own path into public life did not begin behind a podium. It began behind a desk.
From 2012 to 2019, he worked as a legislative officer inside the Lagos State House of Assembly — the same chamber he now sits in as an elected member. He watched how laws were made, how committees worked, and how constituents were served, long before he asked anyone for a vote. In between, he earned a bachelor's degree in History and International Relations from the University of Lagos in 2009, and returned in 2016 for a master's degree in Public and International Affairs.

When he finally sought the seat himself, he did it on the ground — sponsoring the SAO Community Football Competition in Ajegunle in December 2022, and promising more youth and sports investment if elected. Ajegunle answered: in March 2023, he polled 21,009 votes, more than double his closest rival, to become the youngest member of the 10th Lagos State House of Assembly.
